With the recent release of Windows 10, a number of Lynx Software users are taking advantage of the free upgrade offer that Microsoft is making available to Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.
With that in mind, we want to draw your attention to some important points:
- The latest versions (v6 & above) of Uniwell Lynx and SharpLynx have been tested on Windows 10, and have demonstrated that they operate correctly.
- We have had some reports of the Windows 10 upgrade causing problems with the Electronic License Activation service. Therefore, before upgrading to Windows 10, make sure you have a copy of your Lynx Software license details, deactivate your Lynx Software whilst still using the old operating system, perform the Windows 10 upgrade, and then reactivate your Lynx Software ELA.
- Lynx Software and POSLynx can’t guarantee the compatibility of software utilities provided by 3rd party developers that we integrate with. If your Lynx Software installation does connect with utility software (eg. SD Card reader), please contact us and we will endeavour to test the scenario prior to your upgrading to Windows 10.
- Users of Lynx Software version 5 and earlier – this software has passed the conclusion of its Lynx Software Support Lifecycle, and is not compatible with Windows 8 or above. We are unable to provide any technical support on these older versions in regard to their functioning on Windows 10.
We hope these pointers provide some helpful guidance to end-users and support providers alike. If you have any additional questions, please contact us here at POSLynx.
